Today, Capital AI is a REST API: no install, any language. A CLI and an MCP server for AI assistants are coming; both will use the same API key.

1. Get an API key

  1. In the app, click More, then API, in the rail.
  2. Click Create and give the key a name.
  3. Choose what it can do:
    • View (read only): balances, activity, linked banks. Start here.
    • Trade: also places orders, deploys, and starts deposits. Only add it if you need it.
  4. Click Create key and copy the key. It is shown only once.
More detail, with revoking: Create an API key. The API page Lost it? Revoke it on the same page and create a new one.

2. Use the API directly

Send the key as a bearer token:
Every example in these docs has a REST tab and a TypeScript tab. The TypeScript ones use fetch and nothing else.

3. Coming soon

  • CLI: every endpoint as a command, with --json output for scripts.
  • MCP server: connect Claude, Cursor or Codex to your account and ask in plain language. Trade tools will be marked as making changes, so your client asks before running them.
